Served as a section leader with G-Battery, 29th Artillery, U.S. Army, attached to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in South Vietnam in 1967. Received the Purple Heart as a result of wounds during fighting when our platoon was overrun by a company of North Vietnamese Regulars and Viet Cong sappers. One year at Black Hawk College majoring in mechanical engineering. Five years apprentice training as a steam and pressure vessel systems journeyman.
